Small Dining Area Design? It's Easy If You Do It Smart

When it comes to dining room decoration, size can be rendered irrelevant by doing up the place creatively. Modern home design concepts favour treating the kitchen, living and dining area as interconnected parts of one design plan, which is why there is an increasing trend towards small dining designs that can be tucked into a corner of the living room or kitchen.

Any corner can be converted into a dining area and if it happens to be a window corner, it is twice as desirable as a dining room. Built in banquettes are perfect for a small dining room design. If banquette is not possible, arrange a bench by the wall; a bench provides comfortable seating for more than two, especially if you have children in the house. Arrange soft cushions in bright hues of orange, pink and purple in a decorative pile on the banquette or bench to provide both comfort and pops of colour. Repeat the cushion patterns in some lush flowing floor to ceiling window curtains, to both define as well enliven the dining room decoration space. Using light flowing curtains will also ensure your dining room receives natural light, and is airy and comfortable at all times of the day.

The most tried and tested small dining room design idea is to use oval or circular shaped tables that take up less space and provide for comfortable two or four person seating and conversation. Repeat the circular pattern with a large circular pendant light over the dining table. A beautifully patterned circular rug underneath the table is all that you need to complete the look. Formal chairs are not meant for small dining room decoration. Instead, modern chrome or metal chairs make a great pairing with circular tables and can easily be moved around as required.

On our website you will see a range of dining area design inspirations that will spoil you for choice.
